But a mysterious man in black, known only as Zorro, seeks justice. But who is this brave avenger? Review: “It's set in mid-19th-century Spain and is costumed in a swashbuckling style. Zorro's alter ego's name appears to have been changed in the English dub, as he's referred to throughout as "Señor Martin," not Riccardo as in the Italian original. Other than that, the film is a lighthearted, colorful action flick with Ardisson, who gets to show off his boyish charm in both roles: the powerful, smooth-as-nails, romantic Zorro and his temperamental, spoiled, know-it-all alter ego Martin. It reminds me of Robert Lowery's jaded, spoiled portrayal of Bruce Wayne in the 1949 Batman & Robin series. It's great fun watching Zorro pillory members of the Spanish royal court. Director Luigi Capuano's films are usually very visually rich, with lots of bright colors, and this one is no exception. The usual suspects appear here in supporting roles: Livio Lorenzon (NOT with the head shaved!), fencing master Franco Fantasia, Alberto Lupo, Gianni Rizzo, Carlo Tamberlani. My copy is titled ZORRO AT THE COURT OF SPAIN, but there are also English-language copies titled THE MASKED CONQUEROR.
