Alaunplatz, Dresden, Walking Tour [4k], Germany, Alaunpark
#dresden #germany #walkingtour Alaunplatz, Dresden, Walking Tour [4k], Germany, Alaunpark "The Alaunplatz is a large park-like green area in the north of the Outer Neustadt. Often referred to as Alaunpark, the official name is Alaunplatz. In the GDR era it was called "Platz der Thälmann-Pioniere", which was given to it on the occasion of the 1st Pioneer Meeting in Dresden in August 1952.[1] Laid out in the 18th century on a cleared piece of forest and after its use as a military assembly and parade ground in the 19th and early 20th centuries[2], not least because of its proximity to Albertstadt, the square found its current purpose after 1950 as a green area where the illustrious Neustadters, Dresdeners and their guests can romp around in pleasure. Surrounded by Bischofsweg, day care centers, Tannenstrasse and Kamenzer Strasse, playgrounds and a Pavilion, which is also reminiscent of the open-air stage in GDR times, the Naturbühne Nord, is a comfortable place to "hang around", play or be active. Popular with young people in the evenings, and especially during the BRN, there is a lot going on on the square. Very fittingly, from 1946 onwards the square was temporarily used by the Circus Aeros, which used material from the remaining inventory of the Circus Sarrasani.[3][4] Even during its military use during the military parades[5] the square looked like "the most magnificent and expensive operettas and revues", as Erich Kästner pointedly noted at the beginning of the 20th century.[6] After the Second World War, the square was redesigned from a military to a more child-friendly square. In February 1952, on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the destruction of Dresden, the residents of the Timaeusstrasse housing communities "committed" themselves to expanding Alaunplatz into a children's playground.[7] Not far from the intersection of Bischofsweg and Görlitzer Straße, there was a traffic garden for children until the 1980s, where they could learn the traffic rules with the appropriate signs on their bicycles, scooters and miniature cars. The natural stage was built, and in winter it was easy to sled on the slope of the square. The popular mini ski jump has been in operation again since 2009. Post-war children met where army barracks had long stood[8]. In addition to the circus, a fair also stopped off on the square from time to time.[9] Today, even after a night of partying, you can "chill" comfortably into the sunrise in Alaunpark, if the occasional abundance of rubbish doesn't dampen your mood. According to the 2008 cleaning calendar, Alaunplatz is cleaned once a week, namely on Sundays.[10] The picture on the edge, taken on a Monday, tells a different story. In order to get the garbage problem, which has been increasing since the 1990s, under control, underground wastepaper baskets (underground wastepaper baskets) with a capacity of 800 liters[11] have been located at Alaunpark since September 2007. These are emptied by the Dresden City Cleaning Service GmbH. Since March 2004, inmates of the Dresden Correctional Facility (JVA) have also been contractually employed at Alaunplatz and on the Elbe meadows to collect the garbage.[12] And in order to get the problem of dog excrement lying around under control, municipally operated dog toilets were set up in Alaunpark for the first time in 1999.[13] Despite all this, it seems attractive to live at Alaunplatz, as shown by the existence of Wohnen am Alaunpark GmbH & Co. KG, which is developing new concepts for living above Alaunpark. Weekly markets take place at Alaunplatz on Thursdays and Saturdays, and in the future, around 2014, an underground car park is planned at Alaunplatz, which is expected to cost 2.7 million euros.[14] The square is easily accessible via the tram stop of the same name, Alaunplatz on line 13. The municipal kindergarten "Alaunkids" with 195 places has been located at Alaunplatz 4 since 2010. The Hänel Furkert Architekten Dresden had planned the daycare center with two buildings since 2007.[15] In 2010, the state capital of Dresden had a single-storey daycare center for 60 children built on the Alaunplatz 6 property. The new building, made of wood, is called "Eichhörchennest" and is identical to the daycare center on Johann-Meyer-Straße in the Hechtviertel, which also opened in 2010.[16] On the north side of the square (on Tannenstraße) a fountain was built around 1870 as part of the construction of the Schützenkaserne. The fountain was renovated in 2011." - https://www.stadtwikidd.de/wiki/Alaun...
