Salmon River Scenic Byway | Visit Idaho
The northern end of the Salmon River Scenic Byway begins at Lost Trail Pass (elevation 6,995 feet) on Idaho - Montana border. Lewis and Clark traveled this area in 1805, and the spectacular views from this vantage point have changed little since that famous exploration of the West. The route follows the Salmon River -- also known as the River of No Return -- through the Salmon-Challis National Forest, the historic city of Salmon and into Stanley.
