Perinatal stroke: what is it?

We are researchers at Newcastle University developing effective, home-delivered, play-based interventions to improve hand function in hemiplegic cerebral palsy and after perinatal stroke. Perinatal stroke is the leading cause of hemiplegic cerebral palsy (HCP). HCP often leads to difficulties with bimanual tasks and can severely impair independence, since many activities of daily living require skilful bimanual dexterity.
