On Saturday, April 2, 1955, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit gave birth to a daughter to His Majesty the King at the Ampornsathan Throne Hall, Dusit Palace. His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch, Prince Vajirananavarorasa, named her "Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn Theparatana Suda Kitivadhana Dulsopak." "Sirinthorn" was derived from the royal title of Her Royal Highness Princess Valaya Alongkorn, Prince of Phetchaburi Rajasirinthorn. Kitivadhana Dulsopak was composed of the royal titles of her three parents: "Kiti," the title of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother; and "Watana," the former title of Her Majesty Queen Sri Savarindira. Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Grandmother of Her Majesty Queen Mother, and "Adul" are the royal titles of His Majesty King Mahidol Adulyadej the Great, the Prince Father. His Majesty began his kindergarten education on October 2, 1958, at Chitralada School. His Majesty was interested in reading from a young age. In 1972, he achieved the highest score in the country in his high school studies in the art program. His Majesty was admitted to and continued his studies at the Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University. Throughout his time as a student at the Faculty of Arts, he regularly participated in university ceremonies and activities. He received various awards and scholarships each year. His Majesty achieved a GPA of 3.98 and first-class honors. He was the first to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976.
