My Senior Recital was presented in honor of my younger sister, Violet Alma Jauregui, who passed away prior to the performance of my Senior Recital. The lavender/purple colored clothes, bow-tie, ties, shawls, boutonnieres, and corsages served as a loving theme in honor of her. The "Neoteric Suite: II. Ballade Bassoon Quartet" was performed as a tribute to her legacy, along with the utilization of the recital hall projector to display the slideshow of her that was used at her funeral on March 4, 2026. Ballade, Daniel Baldwin (b.1978) Daniel Baldwin was born in 1978 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK, and an MM in Theory and Composition and Wind Band Conducting from Kansas State University. He is currently the Wind Ensemble Director at Garden City Community College, as well as the Theory and Composition Instructor at Southwest Kansas Music Academy through Garden City Community College. His primary composition teachers include Craig Weston, Max Ridgway and Eric Ewazen. His music has been commissioned by performers from numerous respected symphonies, including the National Symphony Orchestra, Shreveport Symphony, Austin Symphony, Valdosta Symphony, Huntsville (AL) Symphony, Green Bay Symphony, Wichita Symphony, and Waco Symphony. His music has also been performed at universities and festivals throughout the U.S., including Wichita State University, Texas Tech University, University of Texas, Southern Illinois University, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Baylor University, Society of Composers’ Region VI conference, MidSouth Horn Conference, Big 12 Trombone Conference, Masterworks Festival, and at each of the last three International Double Reed Conferences. Mr. Baldwin is published exclusively by Imagine Music Publishing. Ballade for Bassoon Quartet is an arrangement of the middle movement of my Neoteric Suite for bassoon, horn, and cello. It was made after creating the trombone quartet arrangement. The arrangement was made as a gift to send to a couple of my bassoonist friends. It is a tender and passionate love ballade that alternates between moments of love, happiness, and hope with moments of melancholy that fade to a peaceful conclusion. The bassoon quartet version was premiered on November 1, 2005 at Wichita State University.
