The trail had been long, and the sky was already turning grey when I spotted the first lingonberry bush by the meadow. I stopped, picked a handful, and kept walking toward the fjord. By the time I reached the dock the rain had paused just enough to take the small boat out. I caught a salmon, cleaned it there by the water, and carried it back to the cabin before the drizzle started again. Inside, I lit the stove, sliced the salmon slowly, and brewed a cup of tea with the berries I had gathered earlier. Outside, the fjord was still and quiet under the soft rain.
