Drop it in the comments! This video follows every major stage of scissor production: splitting steel rods, forging scissor blanks, toolmaking, die hardening and tempering, deburring, punching the scissor eye, and inspecting finished blanks before they move on to final finishing. You’ll see how upper and lower dies are made, aligned, and mounted, how drop hammers shape steel at over 2,000°F (1,100°C), and how eccentric presses remove flash and burrs with millimeter precision. Developed in the 1880s, drop forging revolutionized industrial manufacturing by replacing manual hand forging and making it possible to mass-produce strong, identical tools. This historic factory still uses belt-driven drop hammers, line shafts, and oil-fired furnaces — offering a rare look at how heavy industry worked before modern automation. Each pair of scissors passes through roughly 170 to 180 individual work steps, and a single smith can produce up to 3,000 scissor blanks per day. From glowing steel to perfectly shaped blanks, this is real industrial craftsmanship in action.
