Bleeding And Exploring the rear brakes on a 1999 Polaris Sportsman
This process would apply to any make model and year. The parts may vary or be in different locations but it's the same process. In this video Ill be working on the rear brakes of a 1999 Polaris Sportsman 500. After previously removing the plastics.(Separate video.) I will be primarily addressing the non functioning rear brake. I will show some of the anatomy of the brake system, and explain how Im trouble shooting what's wrong with mine and how I fixed them. I'll also demonstrate and explain "bleeding" the brakes. To remove any air from the lines, and replenish the brake fluid. The same process can be done for the front brake lever also. When doing this you'll need to potentially bleed the front brake lines as well as the line to the rear brakes.. The single front handle bar lever activates both the front and rear brakes on this year/ model. (Some models have 2 hand levers. Just the front and front and rear.) All locations may need attention. On this model with one lever 3 lines are controlled by the front lever.. One to the rear and one to each front wheel. And the fluid reservoir for those 3 lines is part of the handlebar brake lever assembly. Im discussing the rear brake bleeder screws in this video. Feel free to Subscribe. Lots more to come.
