50 Kilometre Goechala Trail Run Skkim’s MOST DANGEROUS Trail🏃‍♂️ JBG Goechala Trail Ultra 2026 : Dangerous, Beautiful, Unforgettable Run 🏃‍♂️ SIKKIM,YUKSOM ❤️ 📍 Location: Yuksam, West Sikkim 🏃‍♂️ Event: JBG Goechala Trail Ultra Run 2026 🎯 Distance: 50KM Trail DNF STORY : At 4:00 AM, under the cold Himalayan sky, the JBG Goechala 50K Ultra began from Yuksom Market. Seventy-one runners stood at the start line, and as I looked around, I realized that almost everyone seemed like a seasoned ultra runner. Instead of feeling intimidated, I felt honored to share the same start line with such experienced athletes. As the race began, we disappeared into a pitch-black forest where nothing could be seen beyond the beam of our headlamps, and until the second bridge, it felt as if we were running through a different world. After crossing the bridge, the trail revealed its true character—steep climbs, technical terrain, rocks, roots, and relentless challenges that demanded respect from every runner. I pushed forward, determined to keep moving, but near Bakhim, everything changed in a single moment. My left foot twisted on a pointed rock, and the impact shot up into my left groin. I tried to run through the pain, then walk faster, but every step reminded me that something was wrong. Deep inside, I knew continuing all the way to Goechala would be a risk, so I made the difficult decision to go up to Tshoka and then turn back. It was one of the hardest decisions I had ever made, because while my body was asking me to stop, my heart was still dreaming of the finish line. As I began the lonely journey back toward Yuksom, disappointment weighed heavily on me. I kept asking myself what had gone wrong, replaying every moment in my mind, but somewhere between the pain and the sadness, I started understanding the lesson the mountains were teaching me. My first ultra marathon had ended without a finish, without a medal, and without the celebration I had imagined, yet it was far from a failure. It was an education that no training plan could have given me. By the time I reached Yuksom Market again, I was no longer thinking about what I had lost; I was thinking about what I had gained. The mountains had humbled me, tested me, and shown me what ultra running truly means. Standing there with a heavy heart but an unbroken spirit, I made a promise to myself: this was not the end of my ultra story.
