Tennis great Federer on 'emotional' decision to retire & plans for future | Team Europe | Laver Cup
Tennis great Roger Federer has expanded on his "emotional" decision to retire, saying he had been determined that the news would not leak out before last week's announcement. "It was important to me to tell my fans directly," explained the 20-time Grand Slam champion. "It all worked out and here we are now at the Laver Cup," added Federer, as he looks to bring down the curtain on his professional career at the team event in London later this week. As for the future, Federer said he plans to spend more time with his wife and four children, as well as remain involved in tennis "in some shape or form". And the Swiss maestro's fans will also be pleased to hear he won't be hanging up his tennis racquet completely. "I will not stop playing tennis, it's just I will not play for points any more," said the 41-year-old.
