It's not as urban as Taipei, nor as ancient a capital as Tainan. It's very pleasant. The smell of the city is closer to Tainan. I think Taipei is the place that uses the strongest Chinese spices. Miyahara Eye Clinic is a wonderful place that you won't find in Taipei, so I would recommend checking it out, even if it's just on your way to Taipei. I flew with Tigerair Taiwan.
