Hyperbolic Crochet Tutorial | How to Crochet Organic Home Decor

I love hyperbolic crochet and have been exploring it for some time. I also consume DIY and home decor content on the regular. One day as I was watching a favorite content creator drape the obligatory chain links over a book, I just started to think about it. There are all of these random decorative objects that we have become accustomed to seeing as "finishing touches". They are usually sort of organic and maybe even interesting, but still, kind of random. My brain went from there to thinking about what I would crochet as a decorative object, and I immediately thought of hyperbolic crochet. I'm simplifying, but hyperbolic crochet was born of the desire to create a 3-D model of a curved plane. These shapes are achieved by increasing as a constant rate. In the video I make a point of starting each new row in a continuation of the sc inc, sc pattern. The reason for this is to create sides that have the same curvature. I knew I wanted to sew these sides together to form a continuous, closed shape. That being said, you could absolutely repeat Row 1 throughout and create the same basic shape. I've shared a few inspiration photos, but just imagine making them multicolored or making them up with textured yarns. They could be furry or rainbow or just about anything imaginable. I hope you have fun with this one and I would love to see what you make. I'm on Instagram @jennofwindrose if you would like to share your projects with me.
