Dart De Mexico - 1969 Dodge Dart GTS 318 4 Speed Test Drive, Disassembly, Build Plan, And MUCH More

This is Mark's 1969 Dodge Dart GTS. What makes this GTS unique and interesting is its origin story south of the US/Mexico border. Starting in 1968, Chrysler built various models to sell in Mexico at their Automex plant. These cars were largely similar to their US counterparts (at least at the beginning,) but they differed in various details. One of the big differences was found under the hood of the performance cars on offer. Angrier engines like the 340 or a 383 big block weren't available in the Dart GTS performance model. Instead, a claimed 270 HP was produced by a humble 318 2 barrel engine - and at least in this example, that 318 was mated to an A833 four speed. The original 318 is long gone from this particular car, but there is still a lot we can learn about these interesting vehicles from down south. Oh, also, we're turning this car into a fire breathing monster.
