I wrote it as an "opposite" to Respire, sort of functioning like a B-Side. Where Respire is about a clingy, more sexual love, partly driven by escapism, By My Side is about a more romantic love, and the willingness to let go of someone who doesn't wish to stay, but to still wish them the best in their life. It's only with a long amount of time and growth that I've learned to feel this way. I hope it shows. On a more self-promo note, this song is the lead single for SYNTECH-!
