How I Landed A Job In Cybersecurity With No Experience Or Degree & How You Can Too In 2024

Just like you i did several odd jobs and was lost in university on what should I do with my life. I was stuck, wandering in the UofT campus not sure why I am learning forensic science when this is NOT what I even had a passion or high amount of jobs waiting for me upon graduation. Who am I? My name is Divy Nayyar and I work at InTech Institute training and prior have 8 years experience as a cybersecurity and IT engineer with 0 fancy degrees at all. More on me : instagram.com/divy.n Lets get back on how we got here ... I was actually even more pulled toward doing illegal activities which I knew if I keep going I would end up in jail. Something had to change but I just didn't know what to do to increase my income to at least $5-10K a month. Than came the moment i recall asking my farther friend who was in cybersecurity at the time how much he makes just for fun. For some context, I was at home when a few my a fathers friends who including himself are all in IT. What he said next changed the trajectory of my career forever, when i asked him hey how much do you make in your job, he said with only 3 years of experience he is making $90/hr. working as a cybersecurity engineer for a mid-large sized company... I was blown away at the time as a 18 year old kid. That was awesome! From than I literally was researching 24 hours straight on how to work in this industry and realized well shit there is several technical skills I am missing. Luckily there was a solution to this...Learning the practical skills HAHA! For the next 6 months I joined a few instructor led trainings and would train as much as I can almost missing all social events and loosing a lot of good friendships. I had no choice, I really wanted it and that's what I did. Finally I landed my first job, with no real experience, no degree, all i had was a good resume, good LinkedIn profile and the training i had done that showed my passion to be a beast at any job that gives me this chance. My first ever salary was 65k a year so I was stoked at 19! Really quickly after a few jobs I went to 115K/y. This was all done with just doing the practical stuff and understanding how to do the resume and interviewing process. Just like me, you can do this to there is no magic blueprint to getting a job in I.T or cybersecurity. If you are willing to learn and truly try your best everyday, you will get hired and can make eventually 10k+ a month!. Now I know the biggest challenge is where do you start, what do you learn? How?
