Is this the real Masuria? On this trip, I explore Ełk and the surrounding area from a different perspective. In this episode, we escape the uncertain weather and search for authentic Masuria. We begin with a history lesson in Ełk, where I explore why this region is so strongly influenced by its narrow-gauge railway. Then we hop on a train and hit the road. It was a perfect choice – we stumbled upon a local festival, where I felt the true rural atmosphere I was looking for. We sampled local delicacies, including kartacze (potato cake) and babka (potato babka), and upon returning to Ełk, we strolled around the town, visiting attractions such as the water tower and castle ruins.
