Oregon Ocean Kayak Fishing Double Hook Rig

#kayakfishing #kayakfishingtips #oregoncoast First time back on the saltwater in the kayak after my Valentine's Day episode that sent me to the hospital and homebound for almost a month. I'm not going to lie, the ocean was a bit intimidating on this day. I was determined to fight thru my anxieties and get back in the kayak and the ocean that I love. The Double Hook Rig is nothing more than utilizing the bottom weight as a hook/weight combo with a dropshot hook tied above it about 18"-24" and a small swimbait hooked in place. The rockfish cannot pass up an easy meal with the swimbait and the larger hook/weight combo in my case a Lancer Jig is good for the Lingcod and bigger rockfish. Brian found a bait made by Nomad Design called a Jerk Squid that he purchased off Amazon. The lifelike squid matched all the squid coming into the shallows to lay their eggs and the rockfish and lingcod were spitting up fresh squid. Brian had a win-win combo with the Jerk Squid for his bottom hook/weight combo and a small swimbait hooked above on his dropshot hook. The current limit here in Oregon for this Spring of 2026 is 4 rockfish and 3 lingcod which gives us a generous number of fish to bring home for the grill, family, and friends.
