And if you are a scientist like myself, carry a professional grade detector with you at all times (perhaps 2 CO detectors--am I over-cautious?). 400 people die in the U.S. every year by accidental CO poisoning (and I don't know the world-wide death rate???). Of course you know CO is odorless and colorless and binds to hemoglobin with an affinity 200X that of oxygen. Hence it is called the "silent killer".
