High Tea with the VC - Book Discussion: Under Smuts’s Rule
The Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Johannesburg, Professor Letlhokwa George Mpedi, invites you to a High Tea and book discussion with Professor Bongani Ngqulunga. This is a thought-provoking dialogue and reflection based on Prof Ngqulunga’s latest book, Under Smuts’s Rule: Jan Smuts and His Impact on Black South Africans. This session explored the complex and often contested legacy of Jan Smuts, shedding light on his influence and impact on Black South Africans and reframing historical narratives through a contemporary lens. Prof Bongani Ngqulunga is also the author of numerous books, including The Man Who Founded the ANC: A Biography of Pixley ka Isaka Seme, which won numerous prizes, among which is the prestigious Alan Paton Award.
