Dave Brandt recounts 50 years of cover crops and no till

David Brandt farms 1,150 acres in central Ohio and began no-till farming in 1971 and using cover crops in 1978. David has participated in yield plots for corn, soybeans, and wheat into various cover crops. He has also been involved in crop nutrient density trials following cover crops. David has raised the soil organic matter on his farm from .75% in 1971 to 7% in 2019 and has not needed to apply ag lime since he started no-till. Hear his experience during his talk at the Growing Healthy Soils Conference. This event was co-hosted by the Scott Soil and Water Conservation District and the Prior Lake-Spring Lake Watershed District.
