The difficulty of this stage varies considerably depending on the enemy's formation and advance route. Sometimes it can be cleared in a quick 5-6 minutes, while other times you'll be engaged in prolonged fighting near your main base until the large fire attack occurs after 5 minutes. At Red Cliffs, the basic strategy is to defeat all enemy vanguards and secure your main base before advancing. Since your commander might rush ahead and be routed, the battle becomes critical right from the start. 00:00 Battle Begins First, defeat the two designated army units near your starting position. Depending on the enemy's initial position, your commander might bypass nearby enemies without engaging them directly. From this point onward, you'll often be acting alone, making it harder to earn army contribution points, so now is the time to work together with your commander and earn as many as possible. 00:27 vs. Zhen Ji While your superior officer is fighting enemy soldiers, defeat Zhen Ji, who is nearby. If your superior officer is on the enlarged map, defeating an enemy general, even if they are a little far away, will increase your army's contribution. Furthermore, when you defeat the army commander, if the second-in-command is still alive, they will naturally retreat. Since they won't fight back, you can attack them unilaterally, their morale is at its lowest, so you can deal more damage than usual, and it will properly count as a general defeat. Therefore, if you have the opportunity, defeat enemy generals who are retreating. 01:10 vs. Zhang He In group battles, first reduce the number of enemy soldiers with JC. If you try to use JC at low altitude, C1 may misfire. I was lucky that it hit, but C1 has a narrow range and is full of vulnerabilities, so be careful of misfires. Once the number of enemies has decreased to a certain extent, you can use C4. If you change direction when you use it, you can attack a fairly wide area in front of and behind you, and the returning fan also has an attack hitbox. It's quite versatile, as it can sometimes hit approaching enemies as a counter. However, its long recovery time makes it dangerous to use against large groups. You can whittle down enemy health with C4 or JC. Since it's not good at group battles, it's effective to use JC to disengage and create distance if enemies get too close. While I've described it as one of the strongest characters, it's not as overwhelmingly powerful as Lu Bu or Ma Chao on horseback. The playstyle involves steadily chipping away at health with JC and C4. 02:27 vs. Mai Ku 03:37 vs. Xu Shu At the Battle of Red Cliffs, the vanguard's two legions are formidable opponents, but Mai Ku, Yu Jin, and Xu Shu are also tough. Leaving even one legion alone can lead to your main camp falling if the Great Fire Strategy explodes, so you absolutely must defeat them...or so I'd like to say, but I completely forgot about that and left Yu Jin's legion alone. This time, my main camp luckily held out, but sometimes the main camp struggles here. The Great Fire Strategy lowers the morale of the entire enemy force when it explodes, but it only drops by 1 and recovers quickly, so it's not very effective. 04:54 vs. Zhang Liao 05:19 Great Fire Strategy Explodes 05:50 vs. Cao Cao A little tip: Xiao Qiao's motion, like in the Wen Ping fight, is often used to knock enemies away with C4 as you pass by, especially in Shura mode. Knock them towards your allies and follow up with an attack as they get up. This is especially effective against enemy units that don't move from their starting positions; continuously knocking them away with C4 → C4 or C3 → C4 as they get up allows you to attack them unilaterally. If there are sub-generals, knocking them far away first often causes the army commander to return to their original position, making it easier to defeat the enemy general. Incidentally, in Shura mode, repeating this with a weapon equipped with fire orbs also reduces their health, killing two birds with one stone. 08:03 Results After clearing the game, I was promoted to Count and obtained the 3W. While it doesn't have any attack-enhancing properties, it's a useful heavy weapon. However, at this point, I hadn't yet realized the usefulness of heavy weapons, so I continued with the 2W.
