In 1981, the film "Davaro," directed by Kartal Tibet and starring such masters as Kemal Sunal, Şener Şen, Adile Naşit, and Ayşen Gruda, became one of his most successful productions. This guy was supposed to be both tough and funny. They discussed who would play the master. One said Erol Taş would be the best. The other said he would be too tough. Then they considered Hayati Hamzaoğlu, and that was dropped too. Then the late İhsan Yüce said, 'There's a guy named Sırrı Elitaş; he's both tough and funny, perfect for this role.' Then I went to a location. The late Kemal Sunal and Kartal Tibet were sitting together. Kartal Tibet said, 'Kemal, there's a great bandit role in there. Would you play it?' I said, 'What do you mean, 'I'll play it, brother? Thank you.' We started working with Kemal Sunal on this film, and then we made about 20 films. May God bless Kartal. He's a great guy. He always gave me the leading roles."
