"Private Detective Hama Mike - Down the Stairs of a Distant Era" opened at Sunshine Theater in Tokyo on Thursday, February 6, 2025. The "Private Detective Hama Mike" film series, based on a novel by film director Kaizo Hayashi and starring Masatoshi Nagase, is a popular hard-boiled detective series. It debuted as a stage reading in 2021, and the first straight play was performed in 2022. This production is its sequel. The script and direction are by Daisuke Nishida, with music by Motoyoshi Tai. Starring Ryuji Sato as Hama Mike, the cast also includes Masaki Yabe (DISH//) as his partner Hoshino, Moeka Koizumi as his sister Akane Hama, and Kanae Nanaki, who plays Wanbylan, Mike's companion in the first film, reprising her role from the first film, despite this being an original story. Also joining the cast are Kohei Nagata, Takumi Izawa, Mashiro Yagi, Takeshi Nadagi, Ryuichi Oura, and Kaname Ouki. For lead actor Ryuji Sato, this is his first stage appearance, marking his 30th birthday!
