General John Reynolds' Final Hours Before the Battle of Gettysburg | Part 2

In honor of the 163rd Battle of Gettysburg anniversary, historian Tim Smith is retracing the footsteps of Union General John Fulton Reynolds in the final hours before his death. Part 2 of this new mini series features visits to a site along Emmitsburg Road once known as the Commons, plus the Codori Farm, the former site of the Eagle Hotel, and of course, the Lutheran Theological Seminary, where Reynolds shouted from the cupola. Listen as Tim details first-hand accounts from Reynolds' comrades that describe the general's movements and messages, including the pivotal letter he sent to General George Meade. Check back on July 3rd for the next installment of this series! --- This video is made possible by the generous support of Donald Holman. --- Historian: Tim Smith Camera Operator: Maria Lynn Video Editor: Mary Grace Kauffman --- Visit us in-person at Gettysburg Beyond the Battle Museum, voted "Best New Museum" by USA TODAY readers and a 2026 Traveler's Choice Winner on TripAdvisor, at 625 Biglerville Road, just north of Gettysburg.
