O'ahu surf havoc: Hundreds rescued, thousands warned
Lifeguards and first responders across Oʻahu were kept busy Sunday as large south shore surf led to hundreds of rescues, thousands of preventive actions and a boat rescue off Aina Haina. According to the Honolulu Ocean Safety Department, lifeguards carried out 7,556 preventive actions and rescued 276 people from the ocean while a High Surf Warning remained in effect for south- and west-facing shores of the island.
