Las Navas de Jadraque (Guadalajara)

🚩 Las Navas de Jadraque is a municipality in the province of Guadalajara, in the Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha. 🌏 Located at an altitude of 1,167 meters above sea level and 80 km from Guadalajara. "Golden flagstones on a black background" is a fitting description for a town that is the prime example of what is known as "Golden Architecture." Thanks to urban planning regulations that have prevented arbitrary construction and buildings that deviate from the traditional mountain style, Las Navas de Jadraque has maintained the homogeneity of its buildings, based on the use of gneiss stone, a light, brownish, and shiny stone composed of mica and quartz. This is complemented by slate flagstones, especially used on the roofs of the buildings, combined with Arabic roof tiles. Even its streets are paved with cobblestones. It's no wonder that in 2019, it received an award 🏆 in recognition of its architecture and the preservation of its heritage. The traditional houses 🏠🏠 are low with slate or Arabic tile roofs; the doors 🚪 and windows are small to retain heat in winter and keep it out in summer. At the entrance, there's a small porch with a bench, facing the woodshed. Its surroundings are dominated by the majestic presence of the Sierra del Alto Rey mountain range 🗻, the setting for the famous pilgrimage to Santo Alto Rey on the first Saturday of September. 📸 Photo report at: https://vivetupueblo.es/guadalajara/l... 🔗 Everything you need to know (what to do, where to eat or sleep, points of interest, etc.) at: https://vivetupueblo.es/guadalajara/l... 📲💻 📍 Places to visit: Parish Church, dedicated to the Virgin of the Assumption, 16th century ⛪ The Ethnographic Museum 📸 The Washhouse 🧺 The Oven 🔥 The Forge 🔨 Multipurpose Community Center 💒 Town Hall Corral Puente Nuevo and Puente Valleja 🌉 Sierra Alto Rey 🗻 Cristóbal River 💦
