Exploring Washington DC and the Museum of American History | East Coast USA 2025 | Day 18

*Tiger Tom and Wild Will | East Coast USA Trip Day 18 | Washington DC Family Travel Vlog* Day 18 of our East Coast USA adventure took us into the heart of Washington DC for a full day of monuments, museums, history and family exploring. We started our day at the iconic **U.S. Capitol Building**, one of the most recognisable landmarks in America and the home of the United States Congress. From there, we made our way towards the **Washington Monument**, the towering marble obelisk built in honour of George Washington, standing proudly in the centre of the National Mall. Next, we stopped for photos outside the *White House**, one of the most famous buildings in the world and the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States. We then continued our walk along the National Mall, passing the beautiful **Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool* and the powerful **World War II Memorial**, which honours the millions who served and sacrificed during the war. Our walk brought us to the breathtaking **Lincoln Memorial**, with its huge seated statue of Abraham Lincoln and incredible views back across the Reflecting Pool towards the Washington Monument. This was definitely one of the most impressive and memorable stops of the day. After grabbing lunch, we passed the moving **Korean War Veterans Memorial**, known for its haunting soldier statues and the famous message, “Freedom Is Not Free.” We then spent time exploring the **Smithsonian National Museum of American History**, packed with fascinating exhibits covering American culture, politics, invention, entertainment and everyday life. From national treasures to pop culture history, there was so much to take in. Later in the day, Tom headed back to the AirBnB while Mum, Will and I jumped on the Metro to **Georgetown**, one of Washington DC’s oldest and most charming neighbourhoods. We wandered the streets, explored the area, enjoyed the atmosphere and, of course, stopped for ice cream. We finished the day back near **Lincoln Park**, close to our AirBnB, before heading out for a lovely Italian meal to round off another packed day of our USA road trip. Join Tiger Tom and Wild Will as we explore Washington DC, from the Capitol Building and White House to the Lincoln Memorial, Smithsonian Museum and Georgetown.
