Honday CRV 2000 blown head gasket replace - engine rebuild at home

This was a backyard engine head gasket replace. was harder than thought it was going to be because ran into other problems. we knew it was a head gasket because air bubbles in radiator. watched a bunch videos of different stages and jobs associated with the job on youtube which came in handy, even though in. the end kinda found y own way which also saved a bunch of time etc...like removing the lower pulley (cause didnt have the tool to remove it) and found out didnt need to.heres a link to a playlist of the videos watched...    • Honda crv 2000   we couldnt get a torque wrench (not shown in the video) so borrowed one and this wasnt very accurate, had probally helped with shearing of the cam bolt. Dave the neighbour saved the day showing how to center punch the broken bolt and drill a hole then hammered in a star torque bit into the hole he drilled then undid it. Cheers Dave. the trick was to get a good center punch to start the drill in the middle of the broken bolt. turned out the cooling system was rather compromised from it had been sat for a long time and possibly had mixed coolants or no coolant judging by the amount of corrosion. We also got a new thermostat that possibly wasnt required but we decided to go with it since it was a 90min drive to return the one we bought at 80$...the only matching one they had in town. The head gasket kit cost about $120 included cam cover seals as well, the rubber seals that run around the cam cover and cam arms, put a small amount of gasket goo on the cam arm corners as recommended by an expert. Did this to help someone out but end of the day it was a big job. and it cost me. The trickyest bit not shown is doing the feeler gauge for the valve clearence. spot on and ensuring the timing marks and belt all line up when putting it back together. All in all though was happy with the my work on this. love a light.
