The Sounds of the Soundaktor - Driving the VW GLI (with high quality binaural audio)

Grab your headphones or airpods! The audio here comes really close to what it sounds like in when driving the GLI!. Road, wind, and Soundaktor noise is pretty close. Episode one in our planned long term owner review of the well regarded Volkswagen GLI. We go behind the scenes to capture the most realistic sound of the piped in engine noise from the infamous Soundaktor. The Soundaktor is actually not too bad as its volume can be adjusted between no sound, just right, and a very intimidating sport setting. In our judgment, it's the next best thing to doing an after market exhaust and it enhances the driving experience. We go Point of View (POV) driving using our tried and true Zoom H1n audio recorder paired with Roland's binaural in-ear microphones. Joining the effort is our brand new Zoom H2n recorder which offer four built in microphones for an even more immersive audio experience. While the Zoom H2n captures full 360 degree sound, it seemed to over-boost the road noise compared to the more realistic in-ear Rolands. Plus the H2n is not very good at capturing our voices as they sound rather tinny. But both are really good and the Rolands do have a more rich sound when it comes to voices. Super shout out to one of or favorite channels, Throttle House, as we just loved their cross segment comparison pitting a Jetta GLI 6 speed against the Accord Sport 6 speed.    • 2019 VW Jetta GLI vs Honda Accord 2.0T Spo...  .
