Meet The Author: Dr. Beth Allison Barr on Her Book, "The Making of Biblical Womanhood"
Baylor in Washington was pleased to host another installment of our "Meet the Author" conversation series on Wednesday, December 8th, featuring Dr. Beth Allison Barr, professor of history at Baylor University and author of "The Making of Biblical Womanhood: How the Subjugation of Women Became Gospel Truth". Baylor in Washington is grateful to Brazos Press, Denver Seminary, and Chautauqua Institution for co-sponsoring this exciting event. Dr. Beth Allison Barr received her B.A. from Baylor University and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Medieval History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is most recently the author of "The Making of Biblical Womanhood: How the Subjugation of Women Became Gospel Truth", published in April 2021 by Baker Publishing Group. Her research focuses primarily on women and gender identity in late medieval England, how the advent of Protestantism affected women in Christianity, and medieval attitudes towards women in sermons across the Reformation era. Dr. Barr is also the author of "The Pastoral Care of Women in Late Medieval England", co-editor of "The Acts of the Apostles: Four Centuries of Baptist Interpretation", and author of more than a dozen articles. She is also a regular contributor to The Anxious Bench, a religious history blog on Patheos and has contributed pieces in Christianity Today and The Washington Post.
