Check for insects, damaged leaves, or flower heads and remove them. Put the cleaned leaves into a large vessel filled with water. Wash the leaves well 2–3 times until completely clean. Drain all the water using a strainer. Step 2: Dry the Leaves Spread a white cotton cloth or newspaper inside the house. Spread the washed leaves evenly on the cloth. Dry the leaves under a fan for about 3 days. Do not dry in direct sunlight because the green colour may change. Once dried properly, the leaves will shrink and become crispy. Tip: If the leaves break easily in your hand, they are fully dried. Step 3: Grind the Powder Make sure the mixer jar is completely dry. Add the dried drumstick leaves little by little. Grind into a fine powder. Sieve if needed for a smoother texture. Repeat the same process for the remaining leaves. Step 4: Store Allow the powder to cool completely. Store in an airtight container or glass bottle. Keep in a dry place. How to Use Drumstick Leaves Powder Mix 1 to 1½ tsp in hot water and drink. Add to buttermilk and mix well. Use in kootu, poriyal, soup, dosa batter, or chapati dough. Stir occasionally for even drying. Once dried fully, the pieces will become hard and break easily. Step 3: Grind the Powder Add the dried drumstick pieces to a mixer jar. Grind into a fine powder. Transfer to a plate and allow it to cool. Store in an airtight container or glass bottle.
