House Trap Removal-Surprise Found in Sewer Main!!

We found the fresh air vent on this old cast iron house trap was cracked and leaking. Since house traps are no longer required by code in our area, we returned to remove the entire trap and install a straight PVC run with a full-size cleanout for easier future maintenance. After completing the replacement, we noticed standing water in the drain. A sewer camera inspection revealed tree roots growing inside the building sewer. We ran the drain machine, cut through the root intrusion, and pulled the roots out of the line. After a final test, the drain was flowing perfectly again.
