Joshlin Smith's grandmother Amanda Smith-Daniels, on the impact the case has had on the family

As the Police continue their search and investigations into what really happened to Joshlin Smith, the community of Saldanha Bay in the West Coast welcomed the life imprisonment sentence handed to Joshlin's mother, Kelly Smith, and her two accomplices, Steveno van Rhyn and Jacquen Appollis. During sentencing, the Western Cape High Court Presiding Judge Nathan Erasmus said the trio "showed no remorse for their actions and there is nothing that he could find that is redeeming or deserving of a lesser sentence". Throughout the trial, Kelly refused to testify or reveal the truth about Joshlin's disappearance.
