From there, we head to the iconic Long Bien Railway Station and cross the historic Long Bien Bridge. While often listed as a "must-see" tourist activity, you'll find that it remains a surprisingly peaceful walk, far from the city's crowded thoroughfares. Once across, we enter Banana Island, a fascinating example of urban agriculture that has persisted for generations. Because the land east of the dike is susceptible to seasonal flooding, it has remained undeveloped and dedicated to farming—a thriving green oasis providing fresh food right on the city's doorstep. You’ll see the island’s mix of food production, local fishing communities, and quiet paths.
