Riding North Towards the Australian Outback | S7 EP21 The easy part of our Australia lap is over. In this episode, we leave Adelaide behind and point the BMW R1300 GSA north, beginning the next and much wilder chapter of our Australian motorcycle adventure. Our route takes us out of the city, through the countryside of South Australia and towards Hawker, the gateway to the Flinders Ranges and the Australian outback. With the traffic disappearing, the towns becoming smaller and the landscape beginning to open up around us, it finally feels as though we are entering the Australia we travelled halfway around the world to experience. After hundreds of kilometres on the road, we arrive in Hawker and check into the famous Hawker Hotel. Perhaps not famous for quite the reasons you might expect… but it gives us a memorable first night before we continue deeper into remote South Australia. This is only the beginning. Ahead of us are the Flinders Ranges, outback tracks, long distances between fuel stops, unpredictable conditions and some of the most isolated riding of our entire lap of Australia. We have prepared the bike, fitted fresh off-road tyres and packed everything we need—but now we are about to find out whether we are truly ready.
