Enfants transgenres : ces familles confrontées à la transition

How does a child feel when they say their gender identity doesn't match the sex they were assigned at birth? In this documentary, we follow several transgender children and teenagers, as well as their families, as they face difficult choices. Between social transition, hormone treatments, puberty blockers, bullying, psychological distress, and the way others perceive them, each tries to find their place in a society where transgender identity continues to spark much debate. At just 9 years old, Matty says she has been a girl since she was very young. Her parents, from a conservative and religious background, have had to learn to accept this reality. At school, she hides her transgender identity from her classmates for fear of ridicule and rejection. We also meet Luna, who reflects on her transition journey and the effects of the treatments she has been undergoing for several years, as well as Matthew, a transgender teenager whose life was marked by profound psychological suffering before his transition. Through the testimonies of children, teenagers, parents, and healthcare professionals, this documentary explores the challenges related to transgender identity among minors: family support, puberty, medical treatments, mental health, bullying, and the controversies surrounding these issues.
