Being Next Gen | Deuteronomy 5:1–15 | "Choose Life" series

You don't inherit faith — you choose it. Standing in front of a new generation, Moses says the covenant wasn't made with their parents, but with them. The same is true for us. This message looks at the first commandments of Deuteronomy 5 and asks an uncomfortable question: what have we quietly handed our trust to? The things we trust to hold us — to keep us safe, to make us okay — leave a fingerprint, and that fingerprint is anxiety. The thing you can't rest from has quietly become the thing you serve. But there's good news underneath it all. The God who introduces himself as the one who brought you out of slavery is still in the business of rescue. And freedom shows up in the most unlikely command of all — Sabbath: the rescued person's defiant refusal to keep running on the wheel.
