Do you want a product that will instantly help you lift more weight Today we’re going to talk about squat shoes - Why you need them, how they help, what exercises you can use them on, and my experience using this one pair of shoes for 5 whole years. First things first, why should you even care about powerlifting shoes/lifting shoes/weightliftingshoes? Squat shoes have a hard elevated heel which is probably not something you’re used to. You probably wear running shoes when you squat. That’s what I used to wear and it’s what most people wear. Running shoes are designed to disperse force across your whole foot. This is perfect if you’re running, walking, or playing because it reduces impact on your joints, but it’s the exact opposite of what we want when squatting and performing some other exercises which we’ll cover shortly. When squatting, we want as much force as possible to transfer directly through our heels and into the ground so we can push the weight back up, which is the purpose of the hard heel. When running shoes disperse that force across the entire foot, it reduces the force being directed into the ground, which in turn reduces the force being exerted back into the barbell, reducing the amount of weight you can lift. Another benefit is if you look at the bottom of these shoes, you’ll notice that they have a very wide heel and that the bottom is almost completely flat. This, in combination with the midfoot strap, makes for an extremely stable base of support and your feet will feel very stable and secure. (shifting weight in lifting shoes and running shoes. The raised heel also makes it easier to squat to parallel. Lifting shoes are also beneficial when performing other exercises such as the Olympic lifts, which I don’t personally do, the leg press, and the bench press. (Adipower Review) Moving on and talking about why I like the Adidas Adipower specifically: Even though they have a stiff heel and arch, they have a flexible toe, making them comfortable to walk around in. When I have a workout that involved me using these shoes, I’ll just leave them on for the rest of the workout. They have great grip on any surface you'll find in a commercial gym (carpet, rubber, hardwood, tile, concrete, turf, etc) The toe box is vented. I don’t notice my feet getting sweaty when I lift. They have great padding both in the tongue and around the ankle. Extremely comfortable. I love to wear these shoes. They fit very true to size. The last thing that I want to talk about is durability. As you can tell from the title, I’ve owned these shoes for 5 years. I’ve literally owned shoes for as long as I’ve known my wife and there are very few signs of wear. I wear these for 2-3 of my gym sessions each week and structurally, they’re in as good of shape as they were 5 years ago. I could see these easily lasting another 5 or even 10 years. That’s certainly something to consider because squat shoes are expensive. The current color style of this shoe will run you between 180 -200 dollars, but if you don’t mind purchasing an older color style, you can easily find the Adipowers for 100 or less, which isn’t bad, especially for a specialty type of shoe. I even saw this exact pair, which is my personal favorite, a couple of months back for around 70 dollars. ---------------------------- Want to help out the channel? - Subscribe for more content! http://bit.ly/2ORP8Sy Check out the Treadaway Training Blogcast.
