Slingshot PTM 799 and 999 Foils | Wing Foiling

Tucker from MACkiteboarding.com introduces two new hydrofoils in the Slingshot Phantasm lineup: the PTM 799 and PTM 999. These wings are extensions of the popular PTM 899, designed to offer more versatility for different conditions. PTM 999: This foil has a surface area of 1125 cm² and an aspect ratio of 8.9, providing a balanced performance, especially for light winds and small waves. It's forgiving, with a low stall speed and easy low-speed pumping, making it ideal for those not ready for smaller foils like the PTM 799 or 899. Tucker describes it as a versatile "one foil quiver" suitable for various activities, including wake, surf, downwind, and kite foiling. However, it excels in moderate conditions rather than high-speed or large waves. PTM 799: This foil is designed for high-speed performance with a 725 cm² surface area and an 8.8 aspect ratio. It requires more power to get moving but offers incredible speed and glide, making it ideal for bigger waves, tow foiling, and kite foiling in higher wind conditions. Tucker notes it's a more challenging foil due to its lower low-end ability, requiring at least 20 knots of wind for winging. Both foils feature a design that handles breaches well, particularly the PTM 999, which allows for clean breaches without causing a crash. Tucker recommends the turbo tail for maximum performance, though larger tails like the V-tail or 400 can add stability for newer riders.
