How can we combat these extreme temperatures? The heatwave is part of our collective memory. From that period, some powerful images come to mind: an angry emergency room doctor, overcrowded hospital corridors, and a health minister in a polo shirt who seemed completely out of touch with reality. Between August 1st and 20th, 2003, the heatwave claimed 15,000 lives. One in three victims lived in Île-de-France, the region hardest hit by this deadly heatwave.
