We Wild Camped on a Volcanic Plug! | Slemish Mountain

This week’s adventure takes Stephen and myself to the summit of Slemish Mountain for another wild camp in the heart of Northern Ireland. Known as a volcanic plug, Slemish rises dramatically from the surrounding countryside and makes for an incredible spot to pitch up for the night. We were treated to an ok sunset, but by morning the mountain was completely covered in clag with no sunrise in sight… just low cloud, silence and that proper wild camp atmosphere. Dinner was as simple as it gets with noodles on the stove, followed by a porridge pot breakfast the next morning. Sometimes that’s all you need for a great night in the mountains.
