If you have a Mac, you will have to install Windows with Boot Camp MORE INFORMATION AND NOTICE If you are having "Pin touch error" apply pressure on the module with the connector when reading/writing. Sometimes there will be a "Write Error" when writing the transponder but it will be programmed successfully. "Read key" with the chip to confirm. Try starting the BMW with the key to see if this is the case. It has been proven that this method also works with X series, up to 2010. It will also work with Mini and Land Rover vehicles with the EWS system and HU92 Blade. If you do not take the time to disconnect the battery before removing the EWS, do not be surprised if the EWS module is now corrupted. I highly recommend not to write the EWS after making a key. If you write the EWS after making a key in slot 4, we don't think slot 4 will work if you purchase a dealer key. It also allows you to have an infinite amount of keys. You are able to program a key from a used key slot without writing back, but make sure you don't have a current key that uses those slots. I purposely spoke in a slower, and easy to understand English with a soft overall tone so people who don't have English as their 1st language can understand this video. While you are able to program an OEM remote (that was original to another vehicle) to your BMW you cannot reprogram the remote to start your vehicle. To use an OEM remote as a new key you will need to deactivate the ELMOS chip from that remote and program a separate transponder to the BMW. Otherwise the BMW will detect two transponders and will not start. You can deactivate the ELMOS by snipping off the 2nd to the last wire from the top right (with the unlock button being the top of the remote). I believe this will prevent the battery from charging, there is likely a way to deactivate the ELMOS chip and keep battery charging. There appears to be sellers who will provide a new ELMOS chip that can be soldered to keep charging, but they seem to be expensive and not worth it. Aftermarket BMW keys tend to not have a rechargeable battery, the casing in these can pop open and snap in place to reveal a CR2025 battery that can be easily changed.
