Gunsynd - "The Goondiwindi Grey" - Trained by Tommy Smith
Australian Horse Racing. Gunsynd was owned by a syndicate of 4 from the Queensland town of Goondiwindi. One of the more impressive lists of feature race wins, Gunsynd won the Chelmsford, Rawson Stakes, Epsom, Toorak, Sandown Cup, George Adams Handicap (Now the Champions Mile), Futurity, Hill Stakes, VARC Queens Plate, Doncaster Handicap, Colin Stephens Stakes, Caulfield Stakes, Cox Plate 1972, Blamey, VRC Queen Elizabeth Stakes. All up he had 54 starts for 29 wins and 15 placings. Trained by Bill Wehlow at age 2 and 3, and Tommy Smith at 4 and 5, he raced from 1969 until 1973. He had 7 starts at a mile, and only lost once in the Epsom narrowly. How much fun it would have been to own him. Please like my videos and subscribe to my channel. More videos coming soon.
