Islington Police Station - PCSO is trying to abuse Section 43 of the Terrorism Act 2000

Complaint Update - 15th June 2022: Dear Sir, With regards to your complaint made on the 6th June 2022, I was sorry to see that you felt you needed to make the complaint and I thank you for bringing the issues to our attention. I have now spoken to PC Squirrel who attended at the time and have been fully appraised of the incident. I have also viewed the video you submitted on You Tube to make myself aware of what exactly occurred. PC Squirrel has informed me that both PCSO Manole and PCSO Aderogba have been further spoken to and are now fully aware of the correct use of Section 43 of the Terrorism Act 2000. There appears to have been a misunderstanding by them with the Terrorism Act around police buildings. They have also been made aware of the general freedom for a member of the public to film or photograph in a public street, and that when asked to identify themselves they must do so appropriately. You were correct in your challenges and I can only apologise for any inconvenience that may have been caused at the time. I hope that this has not impacted on your future confidence in the Metropolitan Police Service as a whole. The Metropolitan Police is committed to developing a learning culture. I am glad to see that corrective actions have been taken to educate PCSO Manole and PCSO Aderogba on public photography and Section 43 of the Terrorism Act 2000. I believe this is beneficial for both sides - London Met Police and the members of the public. What we all want is good policing that respect and protect citizens' rights. However, you did not address a few more important points of this interaction: PCSO Aderogba failed to identify himself PCSO Manole failed to present his designation card to me when I requested it. (he flashed some other ID card) No one informed me that I was being filmed, which is in your policy to let me know. (Under data protection legislation, officers must inform people that they’re being filmed and will do so unless the situation means it’s not possible.) https://www.met.police.uk/advice/advi... There were just so many failings of these PCSOs and Police Officers in this simple interaction that makes me question how you train your people.
