Animal Farm (FULL AUDIOBOOK) by George Orwell (HD)
"Animal Farm" is a novella written by George Orwell and published in 1945. It serves as a powerful allegory for the events leading up to the Russian Revolution and the early years of the Soviet Union. The story unfolds on Manor Farm, where the animals, led by the pigs, overthrow their human master, Mr. Jones, in a bid for freedom and equality. Initially, the animals establish a set of principles called the Seven Commandments, which emphasize equality and cooperation. The pigs, led by the intelligent and manipulative Napoleon and Snowball, take charge of the farm and assume leadership roles. Snowball promotes technological progress and the construction of a windmill to improve the animals' lives, while Napoleon focuses on consolidating his power. Over time, Napoleon grows more authoritarian, gradually usurping power and employing propaganda to manipulate the other animals. He drives Snowball away, blaming him for the farm's problems. The pigs, who represent the ruling class, rewrite the commandments to suit their needs and begin exploiting the other animals for their own gain. As time passes, the pigs become more like humans, walking on two legs and adopting human vices. The original ideals of equality and justice are abandoned, and the pigs establish a dictatorship. They form alliances with neighboring farms, betraying their original principles of animal unity. The working-class animals, such as Boxer the horse and Benjamin the donkey, continue to toil under harsh conditions, unaware of the corruption and deceit of their leaders. Boxer, an emblem of loyalty and hard work, is eventually sold to a glue factory by Napoleon, who prioritizes his own interests. In the end, the pigs become indistinguishable from the humans they once rebelled against, enjoying privileges while the other animals suffer. The final commandment reads, "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others," illustrating the hypocrisy and corruption of the ruling class. "Animal Farm" serves as a cautionary tale, highlighting the dangers of totalitarianism, the abuse of power, and the distortion of ideals. Orwell's work reminds readers of the importance of vigilance and critical thinking to preserve freedom and equality in society.
