ATS/PCCP Joint Webinar on Lung Infection
Development of pneumonia in mechanically ventilated patients is one of the most frequent ICU-acquired infections. These pneumonias are associated with prolonged duration of mechanical ventilation (MV) and ICU stay. Prevention of ventilator-acquired pneumonia (VAP) is based on minimizing MV and encouraging early liberation. There are bundles combining multiple prevention strategies that could improve outcomes. This webinar is focused on providing an open discussion to share clinical practices for VAP prevention targeting modifiable risk factors that can be learned from experts of both societies. The webinar focuses on practices that can be more readily implemented locally and in resource limited regions.
