Worst Shopping Trip – BSL Level 2 Productive Exam 2020
Last year, in September, me and my friend Jake went to London. Why? Limited time pop-up Pokemon shop in Westfield shopping centre. Only there for 2 months. We thought it would be fun to go, we love Pokemon, and they were selling lots of cool stuff. I wanted to get the special London pikachu, only available from the shop. It’s small, yellow and dressed in bowler hat, suit and tie, holding umbrella. Cute. I live in Reading for uni, so I got the train and the tube to London. The train journey was fine, very comfy, spacious, lovely. Took 20 mins, no hassle. After arrived at London Paddington station, got the tube to shopping centre. First time on tube alone, but confident. Wrong, I went two stations the wrong direction. Stupid. I arrive at 11.30, meet Jake there, he lives in London, his journey easy. Inside we see a line, we think thats weird but keep walking. Round the corner, the line keeps going, we get worried but keep going, round another corner we see the line continue up to the shop. Jaw drop, about 300 people queuing, underestimated the popularity. Apparently people were queuing since 7, two hours before opening. We walked all the way back around to the back of the queue and waited. Hopefully it’ll move fast. After one hour of waiting we had barely gotten halfway, couldn’t even see the shop yet. We thought it was worth waiting for what we would buy. But then, we see an employee coming down the queue, he stops by us and announces, all the London pikachus are sold out. Cant believe it, what I wanted the most, all gone. I was really sad. We were nervous, thought we would get inside and see shelves empty, try to find, nothing. Luckily, a lot of people left the queue after this, and it moved a bit quicker In the end we queued for 2 hours, long time, we were tired and hungry, but we were in the shop at last. We were really excited to buy things and there were lots of different items, like mugs, toys, posters etc. However, I saw sign above tills: 5 object per person, are you serious, is that all. I bought 3 notebooks, a mug and a big pikachu toy. Cost £80, the toy alone cost £40. Expensive. We left, starving, wanted food. We love chicken, so went Nandos. I have chicken burger with peri peri chips. Cost £20, expensive. We wanted to go to other shops, but we spent so much already, we went home. I spent £100, not including tickets. London is expensive. Bringing big toy on tube, cramped, was hard, but now, funny. Mixed feelings, I was happy with what I bought, but frustrated I queued so long and didn’t get what I wanted. Nowadays, they are sold online for £80, expensive, they only cost 20 at the shop, so I still can’t get one.
