In this investigation, we met with doctors, analyzed the figures, and spoke with a Regional Health Agency (ARS), elected officials, and others. One question kept coming up: what if the self-employed general practitioner model is simply on its last legs? 🥼 In France today, 87% of the country is considered a medical desert. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find a primary care physician. Waiting times for specialist appointments are getting longer. Emergency rooms are overwhelmed and sometimes have to close to avoid overcrowding. ❌ Too much work, not enough recognition, an enormous mental burden, pay that doesn't reflect the responsibilities, and above all, a lifestyle that young doctors no longer want.
