Family of woman killed in Mexico say they're getting strange phone calls

The family of an Indianapolis woman found dead in Mexico tells 13News, as they work to bring 30-year-old Makala Pendley home, they’ve been getting a strange phone call. Pendley’s family was notified Tuesday, June 9 that she had been found dead in Mexico. Pendley and her seven children went missing back in February. “Apparently in Mexico, they bury you within 24 hours,” said Jami Dowdy, Pendley’s cousin. “They just keep saying, 'We got to bury her, we got to bury her,' and my cousin’s telling them, 'No, you’re not burying her.'” Dowdy isn’t sure who exactly the call is coming from. They’re working with the U.S. Embassy to bring Pendley back to Indiana. A representative told the family that phone call could be a con artist or a scam. MORE: https://www.wthr.com/article/news/cri...
